FAA Seeks Public Input on Draft Transition Plan to Unleaded Aviation Gasoline

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is inviting public feedback on its draft Transition Plan to Unleaded Aviation Gasoline, developed in accordance with the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Act.

The draft plan outlines a high-level framework for how the FAA and the aviation industry may transition from 100LL aviation gasoline (avgas) to unleaded aviation fuels. It addresses key technical, operational, and regulatory considerations associated with this transition. While the plan does not serve as a prescriptive roadmap, it is designed to evolve over time as new unleaded fuels are approved and implemented across the industry.

The FAA is accepting public comments on the draft plan through March 13, 2026.

Aeronautical users, airport neighbors, and community members are encouraged to review the draft plan and submit feedback directly to the FAA. Public input plays an important role in shaping future aviation policies and ensuring a thoughtful transition that considers safety, operational needs, and community impacts.

The draft plan and instructions for submitting comments are available at the link below:
